Trailer-mounted line pumps are the workhorses of residential concrete pumping. When a boom truck can't get near the pour — tight streets, established gardens, narrow side access, backyards behind the house — we run rubber and steel line from the road to exactly where the concrete needs to land.
What a line pump does (and why you probably need one)
A line pump takes concrete straight from the agitator truck and pushes it through a pipeline that we lay by hand — under fences, down side paths, around the pool, through the garage, wherever the job is. Because the line is only around 100mm wide, we can get concrete into places no other equipment can reach without cranes, barrows or a small army of labourers.
For most Melbourne homes, that's the difference between a two-hour pour and a full day of wheelbarrowing — and between a tidy garden and a churned-up mess. Our operators lay the line carefully, protect surfaces along the run, and pump at a controlled rate so your concreters can screed and finish as they go.
MetroFlow's line pumps handle everything from a few cubic metres for footings up to full house slabs and long driveway runs. We carry generous line stock on every truck, so long runs — down battle-axe blocks, across acreage, up sloping sites — are quoted accurately and set up without drama.
Typical line pump jobs
House slabs and waffle pods on new builds, extensions and granny flats. Footings and strip foundations where the trench line snakes around the block. Driveways, crossovers and paths — including exposed aggregate, where a steady, even feed matters for the finish. Pool surrounds and landscaping pours in finished backyards. Shed slabs on acreage where the truck stays on the road and the line does the travelling.
If you're not sure whether your job suits a line pump or a boom, send us the address and a couple of photos. We know most of Melbourne's estates and older suburbs street by street, and we'll tell you straight which pump saves you money.

We arrive early, lay and secure the line, and prime the pump so the first agitator never waits.
The pour
Steady, even feed at the rate your finishers want — we watch the crew, not the clock.

Line pulled, gear washed into our own containment, site left exactly as we found it.
Line Pump Hire FAQs
How far can your line pumps push concrete?
Comfortably 50–100 metres horizontally on typical residential mixes, and much further with planning. Vertical runs and stiff mixes reduce that, which is why we confirm distances at quote stage — read our blog post on line pump reach for detail.
Will the line damage my paving or lawn?
No. We lay protection under joints and high-wear points, keep the line off delicate surfaces where possible, and our operators walk the run before a single metre of pipe goes down.
How much notice do you need for a residential line pump job?
Usually 3–5 days. We keep some flexibility in the schedule for urgent pours, so if your concreter has moved the date on you, call — we can often help.
Do you pump exposed aggregate and coloured mixes?
Yes, regularly. Decorative mixes need a consistent feed rate and a clean line, and our operators know how to handle both. Tell us the mix design when you book.
